Jeju Dream Tower provides a clear case study in how casino table hold rate can move revenue far more sharply than visitor traffic. Lotte Tour Development reported October 2026 casino net revenue of KRW 62.526 billion (approximately US$46.6 million), a 115.4% increase from September. Casino visitors, however, were almost unchanged at 66,254.
The comparison needs to be stated correctly. The 115.4% increase was month-on-month, not year-on-year. Compared with October 2025, casino net revenue increased 24.1%. That distinction changes the diagnosis: the monthly surge was led by a sharp recovery in table hold and higher wagering activity per visitor, while the annual gain was primarily supported by greater table drop.
Jeju Dream Tower’s October Results at a Glance
The October filing shows why a traffic-only report would have missed the main event. Visitor volume remained flat compared with September, but table drop rose 37.7% and the reported table hold rate recovered from 10.8% to 18.4%. Table revenue consequently increased 134.6%.
| Metric | September 2026 | October 2026 | Change | Operational Reading |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casino visitors | 66,393 | 66,254 | -0.2% | Traffic was effectively flat |
| Table drop | KRW 237.769B | KRW 327.416B | +37.7% | More table activity despite stable visits |
| Drop per visitor | KRW 3.58M | KRW 4.94M | +38.0% | Higher wagering intensity or a richer player mix |
| Table hold rate | 10.8% | 18.4% | +7.6 percentage points | Hold recovered from a weak September |
| Table net revenue | KRW 25.726B | KRW 60.352B | +134.6% | Volume and hold multiplied together |
| Machine net revenue | KRW 3.306B | KRW 2.174B | -34.3% | Machines diluted the total casino increase |
| Total casino net revenue | KRW 29.032B | KRW 62.526B | +115.4% | The headline monthly increase |

How Casino Table Hold Rate Multiplied the Result
Table revenue can be reduced to two main drivers for a first-pass analysis: the amount wagered and the percentage retained. At Jeju Dream Tower, both moved in the operator’s favor in October.
Estimated table win = Table drop × Actual table hold rate
Applying the disclosed figures produces a useful approximation:
September: KRW 237.769B × 10.8% = KRW 25.68B
October: KRW 327.416B × 18.4% = KRW 60.24B
Those estimates closely match the reported table net revenue of KRW 25.726 billion in September and KRW 60.352 billion in October. The same bridge can be expressed as two multiplicative factors:
Table revenue factor = Drop factor × Hold factor
2.346 ≈ (327.416 ÷ 237.769) × (18.4% ÷ 10.8%)
The 1.377 drop factor represents 37.7% more table activity. The 1.704 hold factor represents a 70.4% relative improvement in actual hold. Together they explain an increase of approximately 134.6% in table revenue. This is why a moderate-looking change in one operating input can become a very large revenue movement when another input rises at the same time.
The bridge also shows why “hold, not traffic” is directionally correct but incomplete. Visits were flat, yet average table drop per visitor increased about 38%. October therefore combined stronger wagering intensity with a much better outcome on the play generated.
Why Theoretical Hold and Actual Hold Must Stay Separate
Actual hold is the outcome recorded for a period. Theoretical hold is the expected result based on game rules, bet mix, playing behavior and operating conditions. A single month can finish well above or below expectation, especially when the table business includes concentrated high-value baccarat play.
Actual table hold rate = Table win ÷ Table drop × 100
A move from 10.8% to 18.4% does not by itself prove that game protection, dealing performance or pricing improved. It may reflect normal statistical variation, a different customer mix, larger individual outcomes or a change in the distribution of play between games. Operators should compare the result with a weighted theoretical expectation rather than with the prior month alone.
The practical framework is covered in more detail in our guide to theoretical hold versus actual hold. For Jeju Dream Tower, the key management question is not whether 18.4% is “good” in isolation. It is whether the rate was within the expected range for October’s game, player and bet mix.
The Year-on-Year Story Is Different
October 2026 should not be described as a 115% annual increase. Against October 2025, the relevant comparisons were:
- Casino visitors increased 13.9%, from 58,166 to 66,254.
- Table drop increased 27.5%, from KRW 256.841 billion to KRW 327.416 billion.
- Table hold eased from 18.8% to 18.4%, a decline of 0.4 percentage points.
- Table net revenue increased 24.9%.
- Total casino net revenue increased 24.1%.
In the annual comparison, hold did not provide the boost. The property generated more activity, with table drop growing faster than visitation, while hold finished slightly below the prior-year rate. The year-on-year revenue gain therefore looks more repeatable than the month-on-month surge, although the sustainability of higher drop per visitor still needs to be tested over several periods.
Reported Revenue Is Not Always Gross Gaming Revenue
Lotte Tour Development reported KRW 62.526 billion as casino net revenue for October. A separate casino-association sales measure was approximately KRW 83.261 billion. The disclosure explains that the company’s reported figure is presented under IFRS after deductions from gross gaming revenue, including items such as agent commissions.
This difference matters when benchmarking properties. Analysts can create a false performance gap by comparing one operator’s gross win with another operator’s net revenue after commissions and incentives.
Casino net revenue = Gross gaming revenue − Commissions and other qualifying deductions
Every management report should label the revenue basis, currency, period and treatment of commissions. The same discipline applies to slot machine performance metrics, where coin-in, gross win, promotional deductions and net revenue answer different questions.
What Casino Managers Should Put on the Daily Dashboard
A daily table report should make it possible to separate traffic, activity, mix and luck without waiting for the month-end commentary. At minimum, management should review:
- Casino visitors and rated table players
- Table drop and drop per visitor
- Actual hold by game, pit, shift and player segment
- Weighted theoretical hold for the same mix
- Actual win variance from theoretical win
- Rolling 30-, 90- and 365-day hold rates
- Top-player concentration and large-win or large-loss exposure
- Gross gaming revenue, commissions and net revenue
A compact variance measure makes the investigation easier:
Hold variance = Actual table win − Expected theoretical win
Managers can then bridge the revenue change into volume, mix and hold effects. If visitors are flat but drop per visitor rises, the commercial team should identify whether the shift came from returning premium players, longer sessions, higher average bets or improved rated-play capture. If actual hold moves materially above theoretical, finance should avoid treating the entire upside as a new run rate.
How to Read the October Record
Jeju Dream Tower’s October result is a strong worked example of why casino revenue cannot be explained by headcount alone. Stable traffic produced much more table activity, and the recovery in actual hold amplified that activity into a 134.6% monthly increase in table revenue. The decline in machine revenue reduced the total casino gain to 115.4%.
The next management step is to normalize the result. Rebuild October using weighted theoretical hold, reconcile gross win to net revenue, and compare drop per visitor across the most recent 90 and 365 days. That will show how much of the record month came from durable player value and how much came from a favorable short-term outcome.
